Robin became the director of the school in 1989. The philosophy of Miss Selma's is simply, every child can succeed! We believe that high quality, early childhood education, fostered by loving, enthusiastic attitudes will promote physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. RIGHT TURN ONLY PLEASE!!!Parents please remember that you need to ALWAYS turn RIGHT during morning drop off and afternoon pickup times. It makes the traffic flow much more efficiently (we had LRPD tell us this would be the best traffic pattern) and it is safer for those coming up the hill who do not expect you to pull out in front of them since they do not have a stop sign. We have had several close calls due to parents not following the rules. Also, please do NOT park at McDonalds and walk through traffic to pick up your child. We have had a child hit by a car before when a parent walked them across the street in the past..this is NOT safe. Please follow the traffic pattern and pick up your child in the carpool line. Thanks for your cooperation! |

INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION ![]()
We base our decision not only on the early morning forecast, but also the forecast for the entire day. We must make this decision as early as possible to get on the morning news channels.
1. Channels 4, 7, and 11 should air our information. Channel 4 and 11 will begin displaying closings at 5:00 a.m. We always call all 3 stations, however, regardless of our persistence; closing announcements do not always make all the channels. Those that do air our announcement will tell whether we plan to close for a full day or open late and will air this information immediately.
2. Another option regarding closings is to call our school office telephone number or check our Web Site (www.missselmaschool.com). If you call the office, be aware that the school telephone has two lines. Line ONE will give you the message but line two will simply ring and not pick up. After 4 rings, if you have not reached the school closing message, hang up and try again. There is a limit to how many calls the answer machine can receive. Please be patient. Miss Robin will erase messages often to make room for more calls.
4. If we open late, children will not be allowed on campus until the announced time. At least eight teachers will be posted on the sidewalk to help unload the children as quickly as possible. If you do not want to get into the heavy traffic, arrive approximately 15 minutes after the announced time. No child will be counted tardy on these days.
5. If school opens late, PACK YOUR CHILD’S LUNCH. Lunches will not be ordered on late opening days.
6. Anytime the weather is bad and you do not feel comfortable driving your child to school, please do not. In this situations a phone call to the office is NOT necessary. We understand that different areas have different icy conditions.
